Occupy San Francisco was part of a broader wave of protest sparked by Occupy Wall Street in New York City. The movement took root at Justin Herman Plaza and in front of the Federal Reserve on Market Street, right in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District.

This series documents one of the West Coast’s most visible responses to rising economic inequality — a moment when public space became a platform for collective voice and resistance.
